The Dissertation And Thesis Workbook by Rafiq Muhammad, MD, MHMEP, Ph.D.

When you are writing a thesis or dissertation, time is tight and stress is high. Especially if you are working on a thesis for the first time and have never had any preparation for it. I certainly didn’t know where to start, ebbing back and forth between trying to write succinctly and wondering how much was enough. My bachelor teachers never assigned anything over twenty pages, so I panicked when I started building up length. Additionally, the nightmare of composing everything to get a research study approved by the board of human subjects felt like writing a second thesis, only to have it shot down because it was more a Ph.D. study instead of a Master’s study. COVID forced me to drop out from my program, as my job became more encompassing, and I simply couldn’t keep up. I am planning on finishing, so I have found The Dissertation and Thesis Workbook an impeccable resource. I recommend it for anyone working on a dissertation or thesis. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, this is going to be a resource that is helpful and can help you gather your thoughts. If you aren’t sure where to even start, this book has it covered. It will even help you approach getting the research study through the review boards if you are running your own experiment. I recommend getting this book ahead of time if you know you are going to be writing a thesis or dissertation so you can look through it to know what you’re committing to do when you sign up to write a dissertation or thesis. This book will give you a firm foundation to build on and start off strong. My favorite part of this book are the checklists that are in every chapter. They help you to take actionable steps to move the writing process along. Even better, the author goes through what may have gone wrong during the process, and gives you steps to help you correct it. The colors in the book organize everything, helping to keep all the information neatly packaged in each chapter. There’s also room for marking out when you want to have certain tasks completed, which is extremely important in staying on track. There’s also great tips such as how to find the best research or how much research you should aim to include in your literature review. I am a bit of a perfectionist, and I haven’t run across a book that has been this helpful with how to accomplish the task of writing and defending a thesis or dissertation, so to be this happy with it is quite extraordinary for me.
