Cleansing And Blessing Kits
This kit comes with a bottle of Cleansing and Blessing Oil, incense sticks, 5 blue candle, and sea salt. It is based on Old Testament verses and imagery. The oil contains cedar oil, hyssop oil, botanical Dragon's Blood, Frankincense, Myrrh, Cinnamon, and Balm of Gilead mixed in olive oil with some sunflower oil and vitamin E.
Cedar Oil: Leviticus 14:4 and 6 "Then the priest shall give orders to take two clean birds and cedar wood and a scarlet string and hyssop for the one who is to be cleansed. As for the live bird, he shall take it together with the cedar wood and scarlet string and the hyssop and shall dip them and the live bird in the blood of that bird that was slain over the running water." Cedar was used for cleansing.
Frankincense: Leviticus 24:7 "And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the Lord." Jesus was presented with Frankincense at his birth. His body is the bread in communion. This is a memorial.
Myrrh, Hyssop, and Cinnamon: Exodus 30:22-25 "Then the Lord said to Moses, take the following fine spices; 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much, that is 250 shekels of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of fragrant calamus, 500 shekels of cassia-all according to the sanctuary shekel- and a hin of olive oil. Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil. Myrrh, Hyssop, and Cinnamon were used in the Israelites' anointing oil.
Dragon's Blood: Dragon's Blood is a tree that has a resin that looks like blood when the tree is cut. The tree was likely in the area the Israelites were traveling through, although it is currently only located around the country of Yemen. The tree also looks like an umbrella and may have been the tree in several Bible stories, although it is not named. Dragon's Blood represents the blood needed for the atonement of sin.
Balm of Gilead: Jeremiah 8:22 "Since my people are crushed, I am crushed. I mourn and horror grips me. Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? W hy then is there no healing for the wound of my people?" Jeremiah says nothing else will cure. Some people believe this is a Messianic passage and that the Balm of Gilead describes Jesus. The Balm of Gilead is used for healing. It reminds us that Jesus heals us.
Salt: Leviticus 21:13 "You shall season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not let the salt of the covenant with your God be lacking for your grain offering. On every offering you shall offer salt." Salt is cleansing and we are called to be the salt of the world. Directions to conduct the cleansing are included.
Blue Candles: The blue candle is used to note the presence of Michael, the archangel who is the head of the armies of angels. Jewish tradition has guardian angels for days of the week, colors, and such. The modified "prayer to St. Michael, the archangel" is included in the brochure. The original prayer was written by Pope Leo XIII, who had a vision of satan saying he could destroy the church if given 75 years for his plan, and Jesus agreed to it. It was used to ask Michael to fight for us. Angels, as the New Testament describes, are meant to bring us messages and are under our authority. They have been sent to battle for us since the Old Testament.
